I just logged into my Gmail thinking that I was going to have my usual “0 unread messages” notification, but… SHABAM!

I realize it’s been a few more days than I’d like to go by without posting, but I’m pretty lame, actually. I mean, I’d give you guys my Twitter, but you’d probably un-follow me about 2 minutes after adding me. But if you’re really that interested, let me know and I’ll work on it.

But truly, sometimes I feel like I have no time for a social life. I’m busy in the mornings with work, run to the gym for a couple hours, come home to shower, then work again until around 8:00 pm and by then I’m ready to just relax!  Don’t get me wrong, I’m up for a fun time in the city, but in order to do that, I’ve gotta find someone around here to party with. Because the people my age that I know? Don’t drink. Wtf?

So what do I do with my spare time instead?

I shop. What do I shop for? Shoes. Shirts. Underwear. Stationary. Music. Perfume. Sweatshirts. Makeup. Movies. Magazines. Picture frames. Gifts for people (as in, “oohhh so-and-so would loooove that). Okay, so maybe I’m over-exaggerating a bit. But really? Not. In the last week, I’ve bought at least one of everything above. Don’t worry, I’m working on it.

Also? Apparently I’m back to my old ways of sending scandalous pictures to cute, flirty boys. I’m working on that, too. But honestly… It’s fun.

And don’t try to tell me you  haven’t.

Apologies for not writing in here as often as I had hoped. I’ve been a busy girl (I know, excuses, excuses)!

What have you missed? Not much. Work, as usual. Not so much play, as usual. Tons of exercising, and lots of downtime in the sauna (ahhhh).

Also had an awkward run-in with an ex-boyfriend at a bar this weekend. Awkward because he obviously wants to get back together, and I would like the exact opposite. Well, maybe not exact opposite, but I’d like to just be friends, benefit-less. And what made it even more awkward is that a guy friend went with me to the bar, so I got to sit in between the two of them, while they both tried to talk to me at the same time. The ex wanted to be caught up in my life, and the friend was talking Olympics.  I ended up going back and forth to the juke box so that I could take a little break. The boys other than that have been pretty non-existent other than talking to  a few guy friends, which are pretty much platonic. Plus, none of them are in the state I’m in, or else I just might try to make something work. Damn. Happy Valentines Day to me.

I’ve been really behind on reading books, as I plan to read 250 books in a year, it was off to a great start, and now I’m falling behind. Must get back on track. But, I did happen to finish Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. If you get the chance, you should definitely read it, and watch the movie. Of course, the movie was not nearly as good as the book, but that’s how it always ends up, right? Plus, Channing Tatum (yum) is in it, and that’s reason enough to go see it. Well, I’m sure the women agree with me, anyway. And Amanda Seyfried isn’t too bad herself (there you go, gents). Anyway, I started reading The Choice by Nicholas Sparks this week, so hopefully I can finish it and get back on track with reading lots of books for my goal (#1).

Also, I’ve decided to not make this all bout dieting/sugarlessness. But if you’d like to follow my progress, you can still check it out at my Losing It page, I’ll be updating it weekly. 🙂

Sugarless me has discovered something. This weekend I exercised jack squat, downed 5+ glasses of pinot noir on Saturday and ended up losing weight this week. This could work for me. I mean, I’m no wino, but I could definitely get used to it. Plus, I’ve started to exercise regularly this week along with a half hour in the sauna afterwards is a major plus. I’m loving the relaxation afterwards!

Alright, I don’t want this blog to be all about weight, so… speaking of alcohol, I was trying to think of the last time I had drunk so heavily in one night, and figured that it was New Year’s Eve, where I didn’t start drinking until 11:45 pm and was wasted by approximately 12:15 am. People were handing me shots of “malibu rum” that ended up being whiskey, and the last thing I remember was walking home, and falling a lot. And of course what could say “this was an awesome new year” better than waking up naked in an unfamiliar bed with a very attractive man?

Any New  Year’s Resolutions this year for any of you?

Let me just start out with this: 

Last night, as while I was fast asleep, my mind was thinking of all the things that it had been missing lately: candy (or really, just anything chocolate). Therefore, it made me feel bad about it. I woke up at about 3:00 am after dreaming that I went to the store and bought a big bag of candy (I’m talkin’ Halloween size bags) and chowed down. All of it. Apparently my mind had forgotten that I made a bet and suddenly realized, and thought maybe if I tried to throw it up that’d help. That’s when I woke up. I’m not sure if my mind decided to throw it up or not, but I’m glad I woke up at that moment.

Second of all, I’ve been taking the kids to school, then heading to a trail near their school, with the dog. I head towards the trail after taking them to school and realize there aren’t any bags to pick up after the dog while I’m on the walk, when there are usually a few to spare in the car. So I decided to just pass the trail (very bad, I should have just gone home and gotten some) and headed to Weight Watchers. I knew that they had changed locations, so I hopped on the freeway. Well, of course, after exiting, I got lost (I’m terrible with directions). So, my weight isn’t updated on the Losing It page. Ugh. I’ll weigh myself on my cheap scale in the morning and post it.

So, basically, I wasted my morning. I missed out weighing in at Weight Watchers (which I’ve been doing on Thursdays), and I didn’t excercise. But in my defense, It’s been extremely foggy and cold in the mornings (see picture, which I just realized close up the two trees in the background look like creepy ghosts dancing. Awesome.) on the trail. And I just watched The Lovely Bones the other night, and don’t feel like getting thrown underground and murdered, thanks.

On a lighter note, I didn’t get anything done that I had planned, but I did end up adding a couple new pages to the blog! Check ’em out at the top, or just click: Whatcha Readin’? or The Ultimate List.

Anyway, moving on. Has anyone here tried Bikram Yoga? If so, what do you like/dislike about it? There’s a studio pretty close to here, and I’ve really only heard good things about it. My boss does it on a regular basis and I think it’d be pretty fun. But I’d like to know what you think.

Heading out-of-town this weekend to relax and hopefully do some hiking! Someone please eat a few pieces of chocolate for me!

Tuesday’s happiness is…

  • Hearing the paw-steps of your dog following you around, every step you take.
  • Hearing your best friend’s voice from hundreds of miles away.
  • Stealing lyrics/song titles to use as your blog title (thanks, Imogen Heap).
  • Crossing off everything on your “to-do” list.
  • Not eating sugar for the 2nd day in a row (miracle).

You are all so awesome for reading my blog. I’m also absolutely thrilled with the response I’ve gotten from all of you 20-something-bloggers, and very excited to keep up with all of your blogs, as well*!

Just a little note before I head to bed… I did the first workout of the C25K running plan yesterday, and it was a total success! I thought I’d be huffing and puffing through the entire walk/jog, but it turns out that it was the perfect amount to start out at. I gave myself a break today so so that I don’t push myself too hard, but I think I’ll will be ready to go again tomorrow!

Also, the 2nd day of no sweets was the exact OPPOSITE of easy. Apparently everyone’s trying to sabatoge me because everywhere I went, I swear they had a candy cup/dish/bowl/jar/FUCKING PICNIC BASKET (I SWEAR, there was a BASKET!) full of candy on people’s counters. And guess what? None for Jane. Because she’s an idiot and swore off candy for the next 149 days, 3,588 hours, 21,308 minutes and 12,198,494 seconds.

So, I stepped on the scale this morning, and about lost my marbles. It’s not that I feel really overweight or anything, it’s more that I want to get back to how much I weighed in High School.

It’s my weakness, sugar. I’m always grabbing a candy bar when I’m checking out at the grocery store, always giving in when the kids I nanny for have candy and offer me some. It’s just not good, and I need to stop eating so much! So, given this information…

I have decided to make a huuuuge change for the next 6 months: no sugar… i.e.: no candy, donuts, soda, cookies, etc. 

My good friend, “Rachel” and I have made a pact that if either of us eat any sort of sweets, we have to pay the other person $100.00. This should kick off our diet pretty well… I don’t want to pay anyone $100.00 because I ate one piece of a chocolate bar!

I am also starting the Couch Potato to 5k running program with her and another friend.
